Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and a commentator working for NBC News in Washington D.C. she is a TV anchor. She earned an undergraduate degree in English Literature at the University of Pennsylvania after growing to be a part of New York City. Mitchell began her career as a reporter for KYW Radio and TV, Philadelphia in 1967. In 1976 she became a CBS affiliate WDVM-TV. (then WTOP in Washington DC). She joined NBC News Washington two years following that as an general reporter. She began covering the White House in 1981 and was named chief correspondent for the congressional office by 1988. In 1992, she was named chief White House Correspondent and in 1994 was appointed chief foreign affairs reporter for NBC News. Mitchell hosted and participated as panelists on the TV show Meet the Press. She served on a panel for the debates of 1988 between George Bush (then president) as well as Michael Dukakis. Mitchell got married to Alan Greenspan the former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has received numerous awards for journalism excellence, including her Goldsmith Career Award from John F. Kennedy School of Government in 2005. The award was presented to her with the Leonard Zeidenberg Award from the Radio-Television News Directors Association in 2004. Mitchell began reporting on the White House in 1981-1988, in both the Reagan presidency. Mitchell covered a range of notable stories, including weapons control, the budget tax reform and the Iran-contra scandal. She also traveled extensively with the President Reagan to summits together with Mikhail Gorbachev and other world top leaders.
